Integration of Traditional and Innovative Methods in Anatomy Dissections: A Sri Lankan Experience

Introduction: Routine methods of teaching gross anatomy including cadaver dissections have been a keystone the curriculum and certain difficulties led medical educationists to explore using modern technology. This study aims share institutional experience incorporating new into routine at Department Anatomy, Faculty Medical Sciences, University Sri Jayewardenepura, Lanka.Methodology: Prior dissections, recommended 3D software videos were shown in LED panels. Mock spots conducted weekly. Applied sessions by clinicians. Ultra sound scan (USS) based consultant radiologist. Another area with multiple illuminators radiological films was present. feedback taken from students.Results: The use panels for found be helpful most (82.6%) students. A majority (84%) also that mock their studies 89.2% preferred software. Percentage 82.6% students USS guided useful while 85.4% X-ray & CT useful. Majority (91.5%) applied students’ comments indicated recommendations them continued future batches.Conclusion: initiative demonstrates combination traditional innovative methodologies is favored can provide vertical integration subject.
